COLOURED CACHETS appeal to many FDC collectors. Ioor, Grandy, Staechle and Boll all produced colored cachets. Harry Ioor produced two-colored cachets from 1929 until 1951. In the 1940's and early 50's most Ioor cachets were signed, but before 1940 they were unsigned. W.M Grandy produced one or more cachet designs per issue from 1935 until 1957. They are all two colour cachets, usually signed "W.M. Grandy", or "WMG". Ludwig W.Staehle was one of the most prolific U.S cachet makers, usually producing three or more cachet designs for each issue. Staehle cachets are known for the vivid use of colour, often with three or more colour on the design. Staehle produced designs from the late 30's until the early 50's. Cachet Craft produced cachets from the late 1930's until the early 1970's. During the 1940's Cachet Craft produced attractive two colour cachet designs by both L.W. Staehle and Ken Boll. Several popular lines of cachets have been produced from original artwork. C. Stephen Anderson designed cachets from 1933 until his death in 1978. Anderson cachets are usually one colour line drawings, with an illustration above, and historical text below. Most are signed "C. Stephen Anderson" or "CSA". Aristocrat Cachets have been continually produced since 1936. Most Aristocrat cachets will capture the interest of FDC collectors. Fulton, Crosby and "Silk" cachets are very popular for these reasons. |
